Mecklenburg - The fact is that all children display some type of behavioral challenge. However, some children have a more difficult time managing their behavior, which may be related to a disability. We will focus on how to prevent negative behaviors before they occur and how to create environments that offer positive behavior support to school age children. As school age children come to your program attached to a family unit, communicating with parents will set up a relationship for success when challenges to arise. Learning to create partnerships with families will help you provide the best service to all children. In order to receive CEU credit, the participant must attend the entire workshop and must satisfactorily complete the homework assignment.

Creative Program Planning – School Age Style! Session 2 Plan/Do/Study/Act: Let’s Create the WOW Factor! School age programs support their commitment to children by providing meaningful child centered learning opportunities. In this session, teachers will plan activities utilizing children’s ideas and the various resources presented. Participants will explore tools to include children in assessing the activities to enhance future planning. When school agers are involved in planning their own activities, they are excited about participating and learning! Pre-requisite: Completion of Creative Program Planning – School Age Style! Session 1. Upon completion of the homework assignment for Session 2, .5 CEU credit will be issued.
